The Saturday after St. Patrick's Day, Houstonians who are Irish or Irish-at-heart will take to the streets and celebrate the city's 46th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. More than 100 floats celebrating all that is Irish will take to the streets and delight all in attendance. Billed as the fourth largest parade in the country, the event is presented by the Houston St. Patrick's Day Parade Commission and is free to the public. This year's theme is 'Shamrocks & The Cotton Eyed Joe: A Celebration of Irish Dancing in Texas,' and is sure to inspire toe-tapping in all attendees.
The 2006 St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Starting at 02:00 pm in Downtown Houston.
Always a free event, the two-hour parade has historically been one of the largest in the U.S. and plans to include over 100 entries to delight the Irish and Irish-at-heart.
"The St. Patrick's Day Parade gives everyone a chance to be Irish," said Pat Duane. "It's one day when the sounds, sights and celebration transcend all nationalities and people come together to celebrate the spirit of the Irish."
